Our History

Since its inception in 2012, Solid Beginnings has embarked on a remarkable journey of growth, evolving into a comprehensive learning institution comprising creches, a primary school, and a Further Education and Training (FET) college. This growth is a testimony to our commitment to providing quality education. Our journey began as Solid Beginnings Nursery and Day Care, growing into a primary school and a FET college, and all three models are registered and accredited by the relevant departments.

The history of Solid Beginnings Institute is quite intriguing, as its origins were birthed out of a teaching passion. Dr Faith Nharara has always had a passion for teaching since childhood. As she grew up, her love for the education fraternity also grew. Her teaching career began in 2001, following the completion of her first degree. She then acquired her postgraduate diploma in education in 2005 and migrated to South Africa in 2006. Dr Faith Nharara had the opportunity to teach and lecture at several schools and FET colleges, which strengthened her passion and helped her turn her dream into a reality.

With the support of her family, Dr Faith Nharara identified a need in the Birch Acres area of Kempton Park and established Solid Beginnings Nursery and Day Care. The high demand and need in the community led to the rapid expansion of the creche into various branches concentrated in the same vicinity in Birch Acres and Edleen, Kempton Park. This expansion was a direct response to the needs of the community.

Driven by her genuine passion, Dr Faith Nharara’s focus was on providing nurturing care and offering high-quality early learning foundations for children, laying a solid foundation for their future learning successes. That focus led to the community’s need for a primary school to continue with the legacy of strengthening and building on the established foundation. Dr Faith believes that all children have a right to quality education, and qualified and trained teachers are key to achieving excellence in schools. Hence, the establishment of a training institute currently offering ECD Courses and other NQF Level 4 and 5 QCTO and SETA accredited courses. We are not just a creche but a learning harbour.
